Tim Richards Trio "An impressively broad palette... strong melodic lines, muscular
rhythms, ear-catching harmonies... a keen musical intellect
and a swashbuckling sense of adventure..."
The Inverness CourierSome History
The Trio was formed in 1988 with Kubryk Townsend (bass) and Kenrick Rowe on drums (right), as a vehicle for playing blues, standards and bebop, rather than focusing exclusively on original material as with SPIRIT LEVEL or GREAT SPIRIT.
"Tim Richards trio... digs deep into the groove bag..."
Time Out
In 1995 Italian drummer Andrea Trillo replaced Kenrick Rowe, who was becoming very busy with the group Jazz Jamaica. Both drummers featured on the trio's first CD The Other Side (33JAZZ037), released in 1998 with the help of a National Lottery grant.

"Tim's crisp, rhythmic delivery suits this well-chosen collection of standards-there's also some ebullient original material and some unearthed gems by Hampton Hawes and Big John Patton."
Time OutThe next line-up of the trio introduced bassist Dominic Howles, shown right with Andrea Trillo.
In September 2000 they played a 12-date Scottish tour, receiving rave reviews. For details of tour schedule please click here.
The current line-up includes drummer Matt Home in place of Andrea, who returned to his native Rome.
The new line-up recorded the CD Twelve by Three in 2003 and toured Britain extensively, appearing at the Swanage Jazz Festival in 2004, and the Istanbul Pera Jazz Days in 2005.
