JAZZ PIANO WORKSHOPS
These two workshops are for the benefit of pianists attending the NOTTINGHAM NATIONAL JAZZ PIANO COMPETITION (for which Tim is one of the adjudicators). They are not intended for the entrants!Web: www.nnjpc.com E-mail: info@nnjpc.com
Workshop 1: Jazz improvisation: Using the blues as a starting point, Tim will outline some basic improvisational techniques and demonstrate several contrasting ways of approaching a solo over a simple jazz standard. You should have some previous jazz or blues piano experience and be prepared to take turns joining in.
Workshop 2: This is aimed at the more experienced player and will deal with some of the more advanced chord voicing, rhythm and improvisation techniques covered in Vol 2 of Tim's book 'Exploring Jazz Piano'.
